Chefs International owns several restaurants in the shore area, including Jack Bakers Lobster Shanty and the Wharfside in Point Pleasant, Water Street Grille in Toms River and 9th Avenue Pier in Belmar.

The restaurant is slated to open in the summer of 2017 with 100 employees. It will include boat access, a bar area, and a beach area with fire pits, according to Mayor John Ducey. He noted existing boat access and other amenities on the site would remain in tact and not be impacted by the project.

The restaurant will be open from April to September, with year-round operations possible if it become successful enough, The Patch reports.

The Township is leasing the property to Chefs International for $75,000. The 24-year deal includes a two percent annual increase with two optional 10-year extensions, according to Township Attorney Kevin Sharkey.

Ducey pointed out no taxpayer money is being used and noted that money from the lease will be used to pay down the $15 million in bonds that were taken out to pay for the property, according to The Patch.
