Powerball's jackpot rose by $50 million during the day on Friday to become the largest jackpot in the game's history and the world's second largest jackpot.

Mega Millions, the multi-state game, run by the same company that runs Powerball, costs only $1 to play has not had a jackpot winner  since March 12 when one ticket was sold with an annuity value of $41 million.

Tonight's MegaMillions jackpot has a cash value of $140 million.

Angel Guallpa-Mayancela of Orange won a Mega Millions jackpot worth $89 million on January 25.

The Virginia lottery expects to sell 4.7 million Powerball tickets on Saturday alone, at a rate of 9,500 tickets per minute according to USA Today.

It stands as the third largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history. The largest jackpot ever offered was last March’s Mega Millions $656 million which was won by 3 ticket holders.

There was no winning ticket matching five numbers and the Powerball number from Wednesday's drawing. The numbers were:  02-11-26-34-41 and a  Powerball of  32. One ticket worth $1 million was sold in New Jersey at Rachel's Market in Pennsville.

There has been no Powerball winner since March 23 when a ticket worth $338 million was sold in Passaic to Pedro Quezada,

Saturday's jackpot has a cash value of $376.9 million.

The entire world wants a chance at the big jackpot. "We start getting inquiries from Canada and Europe from people wanting to know if they can buy a ticket," Powerball spokeswoman Mary Neubauer told ABC News. "They ask if they can FedEx us the money." The answer is: "Sorry, no. You have to buy a ticket in a member state from a licensed retail location."

The multi-state lottery is played in 42 states including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and Delaware.
