The parents of a two-year-old who allegedly hid a bag of marijuana inside the toddler's diaper, and a dad who police said they found passed out in a car, holding a syringe of heroin next to his sleeping three-year-old, face a raft of charges in Toms River.

Vomiting spell, weed odor draw police

Erica Richter, 32, of Barnegat, and Richard Olivadotti, 39, of Toms River, were arrested October 17, in Skyview Park in Toms River. At about 12:15 PM, an officer spotted the woman vomiting in the parking lot while their young son stood on the front seat of their car, authorities said.

The odor of burning marijuana prompted a search of the car, which police said contained marijuana, suboxone, oxycodone, cyclobenzaprine, pipes, and straws. During the arrest, authorities notified child protective services.

Police said they found the bag of grass in the boy's diaper while minding him at headquarters.

Olivadotti and Richter were each charged with child endangerment and two possession counts. Olivadotti posted $50,000 bail. Richter remains in the Ocean County Jail in default of the same bail amount.

One's asleep, one's out cold

Three days earlier, on October 14, officers checked out a report of a suspicious vehicle at 1 Route 37 West, at about 2:30 AM.

Mckay Greenwood, 26, of Seaside Heights, was discovered passed out in the driver's seat of his Toyota Tacoma, police said.

Authorities said that he had a loaded syringe in his hand and several empty wax folds strewn about the compartment, and his three-year-old daughter slumbering in the car..

Greenwood was charged wtih child endangerment, possession of controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He posted $50,000 bail and awaits court proceedings. An investigation was undertaken by child protective services.

Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
