Richard McCrone III, 34, of Plumsted was hiding inside of a residence on Marcia Memorial Circle Wednesday where Jackson Township Police made an arrest around 1:40 pm following a report they received.

McCrone allegedly refused to come out of the house after police had called in asking him to do so, so police entered inside and found him heading towards a rear window in the house.

25-year old Ariel Treiber was inside the Jackson home at the time of the arrest, although it wasn't indicated specifically by police this was the house McCrone vandalized late Saturday night.

McCrone is facing charges for allegedly taking a machete to a home and car in Jackson Township late Saturday night and causing damage to the properties.

He then fled the scene only to return around 3am Sunday morning where saw police there investigating.

McCrone then hopped in his 2007 gray colored Dodge Ram dual rear wheel pickup truck and sped away igniting a police chase.

It ended after he turned onto Reed Road which is where investigators eventually found his truck this week in a wooded area between Reed Road and North Stump Tavern Road.

He was transported to the Ocean County Jail and processed on charges for criminal mischief, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and unlawful possession of a weapon for the May 27 incident as well as eluding (2nd degree), stalking and harassment, failure to stop at a stop sign, speeding, failure to maintain lane, disregard of a red light, reckless driving and careless driving, for the May 28 incident, according to police.

He is now being charged with hindering apprehension for the Wednesday incident.
