There are two words we just don't hear enough of here at the Jersey Shore, and they are "thank" and "you".

I think I need to be a little more specific. I'm not talking about the spoken words, I'm really talking about a wave or a gesture that says thank you to me while I'm sitting behind the wheel of my car and I've just let you in front of me.

I think many Jersey Shore drivers are pretty courteous and will wave someone ahead of them at the appropriate times, and this goes for other drivers, bikers and pedestrians. We love to make it easier and safer for you whenever we can.

But I'm not going to lie. I am left feeling a little hollow when I go out of the way to let someone in front of me and they don't even acknowledge it. No thank you, no wave and no smile.

How about when the same thing happens when you hold a door open for someone and they walk right by you and don't say a word. Wait, what? I'm not the doorman!

It's not why I do it, but would it really hurt to extend a little thank you for a good deed? A little acknowledgement or maybe some tiny recognition of my generosity. I know I sound a little cranky, and I'm really not, but you can't tell me this hasn't crossed your mind once or twice on the roadways.

The fact of the matter is I never think about the "thank you" until I don't get one. But when I don't get one, I notice, and I'm not going to lie, I don't love it.
