Pedestrian Struck Crossing Road In Manchester

An accident in Manchester leaves a 19-year-old Manchester man injured.

Manchester Police say Ajhawn Wallace was crossing Route 70 in the crosswalk at the intersection of Ridgeway Road near the Quick Chek store when he was struck by a 2011 Chrysler 300 driven by 72-year-old Joel Firestone late Sunday night. Firestone was driving eastbound and said the light was green.

A medical helicopter was brought in according to the Ocean County Police, Fire & EMS Facebook page; a landing zone was set up at nearby Manchester Middle School.  Wallace is in stable condition at Jersey Shore Medical Center.

Manchester Police are investigating the accident.
