Paying Our Final Respects To Bob Levy

Friends and family said goodbye and paid their final respects to Bob Levy on a wet and snowy Wednesday evening this past week. Unfortunately, the weather kept many away who would have otherwise attended and many asked if there would be an archive of the services.

Beautiful flower arrangements, decades worth of photos, and a plethora of Bob's favorite snacks filled the room at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals on St. Catherine Boulevard in Toms River.

The night was filled with tears, but also smiles and laughter as Bob's closest friends, family members, and co-workers traded stories of their favorite memories of the radio legend with an infectious personality.

Bob proudly served his country in the Navy and was honored as such by members of the Armed Forces who performed a brief, but moving ceremony which included the folding and presentation of the United States flag.

While there was an opportunity for anyone in attendance to speak, longtime friend and co-worker Kevin Williams opened the service with remarks honoring Bob and reminiscing about some of his classic stories. He also read a written statement from former WOBM personality Steve Paul Garsh, who could not be at the service, which also included some memorable moments.

Bob's Topic A co-host Jeremy Grunin also shared his thoughts on Bob, and pulled the curtain back a bit on their unique relationship.

Bob's memorial brought out many people from Bob's past, including friend and former boss Bill Sauer, President of 92.7 WOBM's former parent company Millennium Radio. Among other things, Bill discussed Bob's induction into the New Jersey Broadcaster's Hall of Fame.

One of the most moving moments came in the form of Bob's granddaughter Gia, who remembered the man known to her simply as "My Bob".

The entire service was a moving tribute to a man that touched the lives of so many.
