Moonwalking or spaced?

Mark Wixler, 39, of Toms River was arrested at a township gas station late on October 12, after his antics in the on-site convenience store prompted a call to police by an employee.

At about 11:30 PM, Officer Walter Herman responded to the report of a man moonwalking through the aisles at the Hooper Avenue Speedway station, while looking for items to buy, loitering, and acting erratically.

During his interaction with Wixler, police said, Herman uncovered a $2,000 warrant for him issued in Neptune Township. Wixler was arrested on the strength of the warrant, but police said they later found a small amount of heroin and six hypodermic needles.

Behind closed doors

Stephen McCormack, 45, of Brick Township, was jailed in lieu of $80,000 bail after his October 13 arrest in the Gaslite Motel on Route 88.

Township police said that members of the Drug Enforcement Unit and Selective Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at 6:26 PM, after conducting a heroin distribution probe that extended for several months.

According to police, McCormack was in Room 1with 110 wax folds of heroin. He faces two possession-related charges and one distribution count.

Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
