Thanksgiving is over, officially but the turkey, casseroles and stuffing linger into leftover central for another day. We have less than a month till Christmas, the next big eating holiday. The time from Halloween to New Year's Day is probably the most scrumptious time of the year. From candy and ham to chicken and pies, it's food galore. But when is it too much?

We've all overindulged during the holidays. After all, gym memberships and Weight Watcher memberships tend to balloon this time a year along with everyone's waistline. There are some simple things to remember before you sit down for the big meals. Ocean County Health Department spokesperson Leslie Terjesen says it boils down to common sense but many of us get mesmerized by those goodies.

Terjesen says "keep drinking plenty of water especially at meal time. It will fill you up so you will eat less. It's totally fine to enjoy what the holidays have to offer. Maybe try limiting yourself to one portion and don't rush back for seconds."

When it comes to exercise this holiday season, Terjesen says your health shouldn't take a holiday break. People who are diabetic or have dietary restrictions should be especially cautious this time of year.

Terjesen says if you overeat, don't fret. Just get back on some kind of weight management program the next day.
