Six burglary related incidents, two warrant arrests, two drug overdose revivals, two criminal mischief related incidents, one fraud incident and one forgery incident all this week in Berkeley Township.

Burglary:

Maria Lane Attempted Burglaries

In a span of just 22-minutes on May 24 Patrolman Foca led investigative teams to two reported calls of attempted burglary to separate residences on Maria Lane in the township.

At 6:10 pm along with Patrolman Williams and Ptl. Robert Flanegan, Foca investigated a home where someone tried but failed to gain entry into a home as evidence of three torn window screens.

At 6:32 pm Foca went down the road to investigate a very similar crime scene with again someone trying to gain entry to the house but failing as evidence of one torn window screen pointed out by the resident inside.

A search for the suspect(s) in both cases was unfruitful.

Pelican Drive Burglary and Theft

At 4:10 pm on May 25 Sgt. Malley, Patrolman Mulvihill, Ptl. Rudolph and Ptl. Williams investigated a reported burglar inside a Pelican Drive home after the victim said he was robbed of some personal items including an undisclosed amount of cash.

They're continuing the investigation as they search for a suspect(s) and the lost items.

Pigeon Place Burglary

At 8:52 am on May 27 Patrolman Houghkirk responded to a report of stolen items from a car after its owner woke up to an unpleasant surprise.

The victim said in the middle of the night a thief stole his wallet and phone charger inside of his car that was unlocked.

They're continuing the investigation as they search for a suspect(s) and the lost items.

417 Route 9 McDonald's Burglary

At 11:27 am on May 29 Ptl. Ptaszenski and Detective Riccardelli investigated an overnight burglary where two suspects went into the McDonald's while it was closed and stole two deposit envelopes containing a total of $3,144.52 from the safe.

Police found no signs of forced entry of the two men who fled with the money.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of two Ocean Gate men, 20-year old James Carpenter and 19-year old Brandon Baker.

Both were charged with burglary and theft.

Ceylon Avenue Burglary

At 6:15 pm on May 29 Patrolman Butler led an investigation of a home burglary on Ceylon Avenue in the township.

The suspect allegedly shattered the glass door pane of the back door and then went into the victims bedroom and stole jewelry and and undisclosed amount of credit cards.

The incident is still under investigation and police look for the suspect(s).

Warrant Arrests:

Ocean Gate woman arrested

25-year old Aleshia Cooper of West Long Branch Avenue in Ocean Gate was arrested on an outstanding warrant on contempt of court charges filed by the Ocean County Sheriffs Office around 5:30 pm on May 24 by Patrolman Black.

Cooper was brought to the Ocean County Jail.

Whiting man arrested

44-year old Robert Brennan Jr. of Constitution Boulevard in Whiting was arrested on an outstanding warrant charges filed by Berkeley Township Police for failure to comply in the amount of $1,114.00.

He posted bail after being processed.

Criminal Mischief:

Point Pleasant Avenue incident

At 7:10 am on May 27 a caller told police someone shot his bay window with a BB gun creating a small hole on the outer pane.

Police continue their search for the suspect(s) and were unable to find the bb pellet.

Grouse Drive incident

At 8:06 pm a caller informed police of a criminal mischief incident at her Grouse Drive home after someone or multiple people threw rocks at her home damaging one of the shutters.

Police continue their investigation into the incident.

Forgery incident

430 Route 9 at the TD Bank

At 3:38 pm on May 26 Patrolman Foca and Ptl. Rudolph reported to the TD Bank to investigate someone trying to cash a stolen check for an undisclosed amount.

Tourie Overton, 35, of Frederick Drive in Bayville was arrested and charged with Forgery-Uttering forged documents before being released ahead of a future day in court.

Fraud:

Amsterdam Avenue incident

At 12:10 am on May 30 a resident reported a case of fraud after telling police he got a call from a man informing him he had a virus on his computer and needed pay him $14,000.00 to have it removed.

The victim logged into his bank accounty to transfer the money and later discovered it was indeed gone from his bank account.

The suspect was able to remotely access the victims computer and take control of it.

Police are continuing to search for a suspect and remind the public who receives these calls to not disclose personal information, send money or other forms of payment and don't follow any other instructions pertaining to transferring personal finances.

Drug Overdose:

Livingston Avenue North revival

At 5:30 am on May 24 Patrolman Kappock and Patrolman Pizzella reported to a home on Livingston Avenue North for a drug overdose.

The victim was showing signs of an opiate overdose and police brought her back with a Narcan revival dose

The victim was then brought to Community Medical Center for further treatment.

Butler Boulevard revival

At 5:35 pm on May 27 Sgt. Papa, Patrolman Foca, Patrolman Williams and Patrolman Wahl reported to a home on Butlet Boulevard for a drug overdose.

The victim was showing signs of an opiate overdose and police brought her back with a Narcan revival dose

The victim was then brought to Community Medical Center for further treatment.
