Turned out to be a fabulous weekend at the shore with Sunday fooling many of the weather forecasters, especially in Ocean County where showers did not show up until the evening. It does appear that badly needed rain has arrived and to be honest, if it’s going to rain let it be on Monday and/or Tuesday.

The wet weather will likely force a postponement of tonight’s Shore Conference Baseball Tournament championship game between CBA and Red Bank Catholic.
That game is scheduled for FirstEnergy Park and best guess is it might be played Wednesday night. The BlueClaws return from their current road trip Thursday.

Todd Frazier hopes his hot-hitting carries over to the new month as the Cincinnati Reds third baseman finished May on a high-note. The 29-year old from Toms River went 8-for-12 in a weekend sweep of Washington with a pair of home runs and is hitting .400 over his last fifteen games. Frazier’s batting average is up to a season-high .287 and his 16 home runs is third in the major leagues.

The “Toddfather” comes to Philadelphia this week for three games against the Phillies beginning tomorrow night which means plenty of locals will be making the trip to Citizens Bank Park. I will be among them tomorrow night and I hope the weather cooperates.

Nielsen Social is releasing a report today on TV-related Twitter activity over the past nine months and like with TV ratings the Super Bowl will reign supreme. During Super Bowl 49 more than 25 million tweets were sent about the game, halftime show and commercials. Among other TV programs and shows that resulted in a flurry of twitter activity was the 57th Annual Grammy Awards, Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary special, the season-finale of “Empire” and the hit AMC series “The Walking Dead.”

It’s becoming more and more apparent that people want to be outside during warm-weather months as Saturday we visited both the backyard at Bum Rogers in South Seaside Park and the outdoor deck at the Water Street Bar & Grille in Toms River. Of course when it rains or is too hot then we all seek air-conditioned comfort inside.
