Lengthy standoff ends with 3 dead, including gunman

WARREN, N.J. (AP) -- Three people including the suspected gunman are dead after a 6-hour-long standoff at a northwestern New Jersey home.

The Somerset County prosecutor's office said the man who had barricaded himself inside the Mount Horeb Road home in Warren around 1 p.m. Sunday killed a man and a woman before fatally shooting himself.

Police have not released the names of anyone involved or any additional details.

Some nearby homes had been evacuated as a precaution but authorities said the area has been deemed safe.
