Ocean Grove FEMA Aid Appeal Gets Rejected Again
The Federal Emergency Management Agency once again turns down Ocean Grove's request for financial assistance to rebuild its Sandy-destroyed boardwalk.
According to the Asbury Park Press, the agency says because the boardwalk is owned by the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association, a private nonprofit organization, it's not eligible for public assistance dollars.
Reconstruction the boardwalk and dune is estimated to cost anywhere from $3 to $4 million dollars. Rebuilding the fishing pier, an estimated $750-thousand dollars.
Monmouth County State Senator Jennifer Beck says she'll be working with Congressman Chris Smith on another appeal of FEMA's decision.
