The program which lasted a week included law enforcement officers from 19 different states across the country joining officers in New Jersey at a program that looks to be an immunization against gang membership, youth violence and delinquency.

“Today’s graduation marks a tremendous expansion of the program beyond New Jersey," said Joe Coronato, Ocean County Prosecutor. "Law Enforcement must reach children at their most impressionable age to really make a positive difference in their lives.”

The G.R.E.A.T. program is an evidence based gang and violence prevention program both national and international and builds trust between the community and law enforcement.

The program seeks to help children avoid entering gangs and becoming engaged in other delinquent behavior as they enter the age rage for such activity.

Officials have been seeking to expand the program for years and brought it to schools in Ocean County back in 2011 and hope to get their message to as many children as possible.
