TOMS RIVER — Six children were on board a small school bus when a car traveling in the opposite direction crossed its path near a busy Ocean County interaction.

Police Sgt. Gene Bachonski said the driver of a yellow Chevrolet sports car heading northbound on Hooper Avenue around noon lost control and crossed the grassy median in front of the school bus, which was traveling south, near Indian Hill Road.

The six children on board the bus, ages 4 through 6, were not were injured, according to Bachonski. Neither driver was injured, either.

Bachonski said it is not known why the driver lost control. No charges have been filed.
