FRANKLIN BOROUGH — They searched the Jersey Shore and Times Square.

But Tammy Kim, the Sussex County woman whose strange disappearance more than a week ago worried relatives and authorities, was found alive Saturday morning not far from her home.

Borough police confirmed that Kim, 26,  was found in the wooded area off Kennedy Avenue near Yurchak Road and St. Thomas of Aquinas Church in Ogdensburg, the next town over. She was flown to Morristown Hospital for a medical evaluation.

"We are extremely happy and relieved to announce that Tammy was found alive this morning by a hunter, thanks to the start of hunting season that began this morning. We are grateful for the law enforcement, family, friends and volunteers who helped search for our daughter over the past ten days," her family said in a statement delivered by a Morristown Medical Center spokeswoman. The hospital did not elaborate on Tammy's condition, citing a privacy request by the family.

Kim's friends were elated by the news.

"First disbelief, then utter joy and emotion. I will never feel this type of relief again," said Polly Crabb, who created the Facebook page "Find Tam Tam" to help spread the news about her lifelong friend's disappearance.

Kim was found not far from the vacant building at the Sussex Bank corporate offices on Munsonhurst Road where her cell phone was discovered. Her laptop was found in front of a nearby laundromat, police said.

Kim was reported missing last Thursday when her father went to pick her up at a Starbucks on Route 23. Crabb and her mother said Kim had been taking medication for an undisclosed medical issue and may have had a bad reaction.

Friends and volunteers had searched the area around Sterling Plaza and in New York where Kim was thought to have gone. They also handed out fliers in Times Square and around the passenger ferry terminal in Manhattan.

CORRECTION: This article has been updated to clarify that Tammy Kim was found in Ogdensburg.
