A New Jersey Transit bus and a car have been involved in an accident in Plumsted.

Many fire and rescue crews responded to the scene on Route 528 at Hawkins Road around 3:30 PM according to the Monmouth County Police, Fire & EMS page.

A witness who passed by the accident scene shortly afterwards says it looks like a white vehicle ran into the back of the bus, which drove off the road and onto the property of a historic home that is being restored. No one lives in the home.

Several people were removed from the bus by stretcher.

The bus is believed to be NJ Transit's #317 bus which travels from Philadelphia to Asbury Park with stops in Camden, Cherry Hill, Moorestown, Mt. Laurel (Burlington County College), Mt. Holly, Pemberton (Burlington County College), Browns Mills, Fort Dix, Wrightstown, McGuire AFB, Cookstown, New Egypt, Cassville, Lakewood, Brick, Point Pleasant Beach and  Belmar ending in Asbury Park (Asbury Park Transportation Center).
