FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — Twin brothers and a 37-year-old Whiting man were caught devising a scheme to smuggle drugs into the Monmouth County jail last summer.

Samuel Norman, 24, of Manalapan, and Anthony Galladay, 37, of Whiting, planned to smuggle Xanax, heroin and alphrazolam to Thomas Norman, an inmate at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, on Aug. 14 and Aug. 15. The twin then plotted to sell the drugs to other prisoners, according to a criminal complaint released Dec. 22 and obtained by New Jersey 101.5.

"The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office has zero tolerance for anyone who attempts to bring in contraband to the facility. (Norman and Galladay) will be prosecuted to the fullest extent," spokeswoman Cynthia Scott said.

This isn't the first time the Norman brothers have had a brush with the law. At 18-years-old, the pair broke into two Holmdel homes along with high school classmate Tim Kegley and stole a cellphone, digital camera, watch and baseball from a display case, police said at the time.

All three men were cornered by police while driving away in a minivan and charged with burglary, theft, conspiracy and criminal mischief.
