Not a lot of things about New Jersey surprise us at this point. The Garden State's most popular junk food did.

Let me start by saying that I don't get this one at all. I know a lot of people in New Jersey, but I'm not sure I know anyone who's favorite junk food was consistent with the conclusion that Gourmandize came up with, according to msn.com.

If someone asked you what our most popular junk food is in the Garden State, you might say some kind of chip or some kind of cookie or cake. Or maybe you'd guess something with the main ingredient of chocolate.

Or maybe your mind went to burgers, fries and all the wonderful things we can get at any of thousands of drive-thru's in the Garden State, but that's not it either.

But nobody I know would have come up with the answer that Gourmandize came up with. Apparently, the top junk food in New Jersey is Sour Patch Kids. Yep, that's what I said. Sour Patch Kids.

I know that we often make the Sour Patch Kids face when we're driving around our glorious state, and there could be an argument made for our state having some sour things about it, but as our favorite junk food? I just don't see it.

For the record, the favorite junk food of our neighbors in New York is Sweet Tarts, and in Pennsylvania, it's Swedish Fish.  Yes, the report leaned in the candy direction, but I'm still a little bewildered by the Sour Patch Kids.

And by the way, if I trick or treat at your house, I'd much rather see a Three Musketeers coming my way. Thank you in advance.
