If someone asked you what the biggest invention ever to come out of New Jersey was, you may think Edison, right? But one publication thinks an invention you may not even know happened in New Jersey tops the list.

If someone asked you what the most important invention to come out of New Jersey was, a light bulb might go off in your head and you may say Thomas Edison's well, light bulb.  But that's not what one publication thinks.

An article at msn.com listed the most important inventions in every state, and the Garden State's entry is cooler than the light bulb, literally. So what is this important invention? I bet a lot of people don't even know it happened in New Jersey.

The invention is the air conditioner, and it happened at the Carrier factory in Newark back in 1921. And there's no question the use of air conditioning changed the world as we know it.

The inventions that were based in New Jersey over the years include many Edison ideas of course, like the phonograph and motion pictures, but also go way beyond his incredible ideas.
