Despite all of our grumbling cursing and gesturing, it turns out New Jersey drivers really aren't all that bad.

It turns out, according to some recent research, that New Jersey is actually closer to being the best state than it is to being the state with the worst drivers. Now, before we order the driving trophies for New Jersey, you should know there are a dozen states with better drivers than us.

The information comes from smartasset.com, and their study ranks New Jersey as the 38th worst state, or twelfth best, depending on how much of an optimist you are. The best state is Massachusetts and the worst is Mississippi.

The results were based on a good deal of data including DUI arrests, percentage of drivers with insurance and number of auto accident fatalities per 100,000,000 vehicle miles traveled.

So the next time you feel the urge to belt out a series of unprintable words, or you feel a certain finger beginning to extend, remember, you are among some pretty solid, impressive drivers. Imagine how New Jersey driving would be if you weren't.
