Along with a 14-year-run as the real-life son of Ozzie & Harriet on The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet on ABC, Ricky Nelson became rock and roll star. After dozens of Top 20 hits between 1957 and 1964, Nelson's career hit a lull as a result of the British Invasion. He was, however able to come back big in 1972 with one more Top 10 smash titled "Garden Party." Nelson was born Eric Hilliard Nelson in New Jersey this day in 1940. Bob O'Brien here, and in my days singing and touring with the Duprees, I had the honor of working with him twice. Below is a treasured photograph backstage at a 1982 oldies concert we did together at Six Flags Great Adventure. Rick would've been 78 today.
