Motorcyclist injured in Stafford crash

Witnesses to a Monday afternoon crash on Route 9 in Stafford Township that sent a motorcyclist to the hospital are being urged by police to step forward.

Jesse Margaretta, 21, of Ocean Gate sustained non-life-threatening injuries to the arms and legs, but was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for precautionary reasons, police said.

Margaretta was headed north on the highway, not far from the Ocean Club Fitness Center, at about 12:42 PM. Mary Spiaggia, 74, of Waretown, was southbound in a 2012 Mercedes-Benz.

Ms. Spiaggia turned left, across the highway, to reach a business on the northbound side. Margarretta's 2008 Kawasaki bike rammed the car's passenger side. Detours stayed on the spot for about 30 minutes, police said.
