Prosecutors in Union County have arrested two people accused of involving an underage girl in their human trafficking scheme.

Horace "Trey" Spencer III, 23, of Newark, and Carisma Snell, 19, of Hillside, were arrested after a five-month investigation.

Authorities say Snell connected the victim to Spencer.

Acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park said Spencer posted ads on escort websites to arrange dates with the victim and used motels in Rahway and Linden for "sex-for-cash meetings."

Spencer and Snell were arrested at their homes and were taken to the Union County Jail. Park said they are working to find and identify any additional victims and encouraged anyone with information to call Det. Brian O'Malley at 908-965-3881.

Spencer and Snell have been charged with two counts of human trafficking and two counts of first-degree promoting the prostitution of a minor. Spencer was also charged with second-degree sexual assault. First-degree trafficking of a minor carries a minimum penalty of 20 years in prison, or a maximum of life in prison.
