MANCHESTER - No one is injured when a car rams a house in Manchester…because no one is inside either one. Police say 56-year-old Howard Yager Begam pushing his car from his garage just before 1PM Sunday to tend to a dead battery. The car gained speed along his graded driveway, sailed across Sterling Street and into the face of the home. Without occupants, Township Building Inspector Gary Loftus couldn’t enter to determine the extent of the damage.

TOMS RIVER - A Toms River man remains in the Ocean County Jail after stealing a 32-inch television from the route 37 Wal-Mart. It happened Saturday night. Chief Mike Mastronardy says 42-year-old Edward Burozki was charged with shoplifting. He was stopped by a Berkeley Police officer shortly after the incident. Bail is set at $2500.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP (AP) – Motorists might face delays as officials look for ways to synchronize the traffic lights at Airport Circle in Egg Harbor Township Monday. The signals will be shut off and police officers will be on hand to direct traffic. Drivers have complained about backups at the redesigned circle, which opened in November.

NEW YORK – A batch of a popular pastry is being recalled because some labels don’t mention that it contains eggs. New York-based Bloch’s best is pulling its Laromme Vanilla Rugelach 14-ounce containers distributed between November 2 and December 22 in New Jersey, Massachusetts and Maryland. One illness has been reported.

HOWELL – Ten horses were rescued when a barn went up in flames in Howell Township Saturday. Investigators are trying to trace the source of the blaze on Squankum-Yellowbrook Road. No one was injured.

TRENTON - After serving parts of Ocean and Monmouth counties for nearly two decades, Assemblyman Joe Malone is leaving office. The 62-year-old announced last year that he wouldn’t be seeking another term. He took the seat in 1993 in the 30th legislative district from Robert Singer, who became and who still is Senator.
