BRICK - An early morning accident in Brick Township has Chambersbridge Road closed at this hour. It will be closed in both directions from Route 70 and Ovation Way for at least another two hours.

TOMS RIVER (AP) – The trial of Jahmell Crockam, charged with murdering  Lakewood police officer Christopher Matlosz will resume Monday afternoon. Two witnesses last week identified Crockam as the man they saw fire into the police car at close range. Crockam’s lawyer says police arrested the wrong man, and has tried to discredit the witness identifications as unreliable. Prosecutors say Crockam had outstanding arrest warrants for possession of hollow-point bullets, and had vowed to several people that he would kill a police officer rather than go to prison.

LACEY – Lacey Township School District officials have called a “special meeting” tonight to discuss moving their board and budget elections to November. The meeting will be held in the high school’s lecture hall at 6 p.m.

TOMS RIVER - A Toms River man is home from the hospital after he reported being shot in the groin. But when police went to his Brandon Road home early Sunday morning, he had a stab wound instead. The 42-year-old was highly intoxicated and apparently had a confrontation with a neighbor. The man was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Anyone with information should call 732-349-0150.

BELMAR – The Shark River Bridge will be closed Thursday starting at 10pm. Monmouth County officials say the routine safety inspection should last 3 to 4 hours.

JACKSON - A former paid Jackson firefigher heads to prison for 30-years under the no early release act for sexually assaulting four children. Friday’s sentence in Ocean County Superior Court follows a guilty plea by 44-year-old John Ackley in July to three counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count each of sexual assault, possession of child pornography and child endangerment. Ackley must serve 25 years and six months before parole eligibility.
