An ex-convict from Middletown faces trial for the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl, and for allegedly exploiting other teenage and pre-teen girls through the Kik social media site.

Bryan W. Sanderson, 24, is the subject of a 24-count indictment returned by a Monnouth County grand jury, according to the office of County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni.

The incidents compiled in the allegations took place while Sanderson was serving lifetime parole supervision for a 2013 conviction, authorities said.

Sanderson was arrested in September 2016, ensuing from a probe that began a year earlier when Sanderson was accused of using Kik to lure the teen into a sexual encounter.

Investigators said that Sanderson had numerous salacious images of children in his possession, using the web to send and receive lurid images with individuals who identified themselves as 12- and 13-year-old girls.

Sanderson is incarcerated at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold, with cash bail set at $150,000.

He faces a second-degree charge of luring a juvenile, three second-degree counts of sexual assault, a third-degree charge of child endangerment, one first-degree and three secon-degree charges of endangering the welfare of a child by causing or permitting them to engage in child pornography, seven third-degree counts of attempting to endanger the welfare of a child, a third-degree obscenity charge, five third-degree counts of attempted obscenity, a third-degree charge of possession of child pornography, and one third-degree charge of violating lifetime parole supervision.

Investigators suspect that more actual or potential victims exist, and they are urging any who believe they were exploited to step forward. There are several methods:

Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
