PRINCETON — A man is charged with kidnapping a woman, driving her around in his for several hours and refusing to let her out.

The 20-year-old woman was finally rescued after police saw her screaming for help out of the window of the 2001 Mercedes-Benz.

Police pulled over the driver, Benjamin Li, 22, on Nassau Street near Tulane Street. It is his second run-in with the law this month.

The woman, who said she was from Plainsboro, told police that Li trapped her in his car for three hours, driving through several towns.

They said she also told an officer that Li threatened to kill her, stole her cell phone, and punched her in the arm.

Police did not reveal the woman's relationship to the man or how she got into the car in the first place.

Li was charged with kidnapping, criminal restraint and receiving stolen property. He is being held at the Mercer County Correctional Center with bail set at $225,000.

It's Li's second encounter with police in the past two weeks. Montgomery police said that a BMW driven Li went down a ditch along Fairview Road on the night of Nov. 19. After discovering the car abandoned, police went to Li's home. He reportedly told police that he had lost control on a curve and his insurance company told him not to report the incident.

Li was charged in that incident with failure to maintain lane, driving while suspended, leaving the scene and failure to report an accident.
