The Ocean County Long Term Recovery Committee met for the fourth time on Monday.  They now have a stronger group with a set of well defined goals and a special executive leadership board.

The group, made up of non-profits, faith-based organizations and volunteers met in Toms River at their usual location - the Elks Lodge on Washington Street.  The goal of the group is to make the process of restoring the shore and the lives of everyone affected, easier and more streamlined.  According to figures, Ocean County was the hardest hit in the state during Sandy and the cleanup and recovery is estimated to take anywhere from three to five years.

Ted Gooding of Ocean Inc. is the chairman of the group.  He says "we are working closely with all of our partners through this difficult recovery.  It won't be a short term deal.  This is something that will be with us for a while.  We are thrilled with the response from everyone."

Gooding explains "time, patience, good communication and a strategy are all elements that make up our committee."  The members broke off into small units ranging from fundraising to construction management.  There's also a public affairs component as well as volunteer services management.

The group will be meeting after the holidays to discuss additional ways to help the public and ways they can reach those who need to find permanent housing.
