LAUGH-IN Debuted on NBC 50 Years Ago Today
It wasn't expected to be a hit against CBS' Monday night juggernaut of a line-up, but Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In was a smash. Its catch phrases also became popular - "Sock it to me," "You bet your bippy," "Very Interesting," "Look that up in your Funk & Wagnalls," "The Fickle Finger of Fate," "The Farkle Family," and "Here Comes the Judge." It debuted exactly 50 years ago today, and made stars out of Goldie Hawn, Lily Tomlin, Tiny Tim, JoAnne Worley, Arte Johnson, Alan Sues, Judy Carne, Henry Gibson, and dozens more over it's almost six-year run. The Decades channel reruns the show on weeknights. Here's a fun version of the joke wall below.
