Lady Gaga Win Battle Over Boardwalk Hall

Lady Gaga and sweaty wrestlers will be able to co-exist in Atlantic City next March but the grapplers will have to adjust their schedule not the pop diva.

The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association announced that the very popular individual state wrestling championships would remain at Boardwalk Hall for at least the next 3 years.  However the 2013 tournament will be pushed back to the second weekend in March because Lady Gaga will play Boardwalk Hall on March 2nd, which was to be the middle day of the three-day wrestling event.

Now the state tournament is pushed back to March 8-10 which does present a problem because that’s two weeks after the regional’s end and it makes maintaining weight a dicey situation for the wrestlers themselves.  The NJSIAA said they will form a committee to look into the schedule and how to best make it work

Going back to Atlantic City was a no brainer and in the end the governing body for high school sports in New Jersey really had no options.  As a way to help their bleak financial situation the NJSIAA asked venues to submit proposals for hosting its various events and Boardwalk Hall and the Izod Center were the only ones who did so regarding the wrestling tournament.

However in recent weeks the Izod Center reportedly pulled that proposal so that left the casino city the only choice even though it is the best choice for wrestlers and fans.

In regards to the Lady Gaga conflict Boardwalk Hall officials said they had been asked to hold the second weekend in March for the wrestling tournament so they did not see March 2nd as a conflict.  However the NJSIAA denies they gave out the wrong dates but at this point it doesn’t matter.  Lady Gaga will perform on the 2nd and hundreds of wrestlers will take over the venue a week later.
