The historic race at Sandy Hook Gateway National Recreation Area was cancelled after the federal government failed to reach a resolution Friday. National Parks are closed across the country because of the shutdown.

However, the Atlantic City Marathon Race Series, which runs on Sunday, October 13, will be offering a substantial discount to runners who were registered to participate in the Jersey Shore Half Marathon.

Runners can visit the 2013 Sports & Fitness Expo on Friday, October 11th from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. or Saturday, October 12th from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. to register.  By showing your proof of registration for the Jersey Shore Half,  they will offer a discount on the cost of registration.

In a released statement Friday, AC Marathon officials said,

"We realize that many of these runners have been training for months and not having a race to complete their tremendous accomplishment would be devastating! We look forward to hosting members of our New Jersey running community during this difficult time."
