FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — A JCP&L worker who eventually died from what police described as a "medical episode" was able to tell police and paramedics what happened before collapsing on Wednesday morning.

According to the Asbury Park Press, Andrew Powers, 56, of Metuchen, was working on Kings Road when he lost his balance. Powers told police at the scene that when he was falling his arm hit the panel of the equipment he was working on, and his hand hit live wires, police were quoted as saying.

Powers was taken to CentraState Medical Center and was declared dead around 11:20 Wednesday morning, according to the Asbury Park Press.

JCP&L Spokesman Ron Morano confirmed to New Jersey 101.5 that Powers died on the job and that the company is investigating the incident.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and coworkers," Morano said.
