Did you know, Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L) keeps a critical care list of customers? Utility Spokesman Ron Morano says the list identifies customers who are most vulnerable in the event of a power outage.

"Yeah, Jersey Central Power And Light customers who use electrically operated life support equipment and customers who depend on private well water for their homes need to register their accounts with the company so that they can get updates on potential interruptions to their electric service."

However, to be included on the list for health reasons, Morano said customers must complete and submit an authorization form signed by their physician. According to JCP&L's press release, it's a form that has to be submitted every year. He said the list is provided to local Emergency Management officials as well.

JCP&L customers who are registering because they depend on private well water are not required to fill out a physician authorization form. Morano said they're in another category of priority service need.

Customers can register at JCP&L's customer service center at 1-800-662-3115. The utility also has a Facebook page that you can access here.
