Jackson police are seeking the public's help locating a suspect wanted in connection with a New Year's Eve assault and robbery at the Sunoco Gas Station on Route 537.

A man who observed the suspect, 29-year-old Stephone Potts, allegedly hitting a woman in a vehicle at the gas station and alerted the attendants to call 9-1-1, according to authorities.

Potts allegedly got out of the vehicle and struck the man in the back of the head, causing him to fall face first to the ground, suffer serious injuries and lose consciousness. Police said Potts then grabbed the victim's cell phone and fled.

Authorities said Potts is known to drive a green, 2000 Honda Civic with the New Jersey license plate F25FKW. His last known address was on Messenger Road in Willingboro, NJ.

Warrants have been signed against Potts for Robbery, Aggravated Assault and Theft. Bail has been set at $75,000.00.
