It's January and there's a hurricane out over the Atlantic Ocean.

No, seriously, there is.

As of 11AM Thursday morning, Hurricane Alex -- the first hurricane of the 2016 season (which doesn't officially start for a really long time) -- was located 490 miles south of Faial Island in the Central Azores (that's about 2,000 miles east of Atlantic City). Alex has winds of 85 MPH and was moving towards the NNE at 20 MPH. Alex's forecast track will be taking it over cold(er) ocean water soon, to it's not expected to be around much longer.

Alex is the first hurricane to form in the month of January since 1938.
