When it comes to being patriotic, many Jersey Shore residents think we're probably among the best. According to a recent study, you would be incorrect.

As a matter of fact, not only are we not among the most patriotic states, we are ranked last. Yep, New Jersey is the least patriotic state in the nation, according to wallethub.com. We rank 50th in their study.

Some of the criteria used to determine these rankings included military and civic engagement, as well as number of veterans per capita, number of military enlistees, number of peace corp volunteers per capita, and percentage of voters in 2016's presidential election.

In my experience, Garden State residents seem to be very patriotic and seem to support those who have served or are serving our nation. I'd like to think our state is among the most patriotic, but the info publishes in this June 2017 report apparently doesn't back that up.

Anyway, we want to take this opportunity to thank all of New Jersey's veterans, active military, first responders and all of those who patriotically serve our communities and nation, and we thank their families for their sacrifices as well.
