For all the criticism heaped upon Donald Trump (and much of it deserved) what some career politicians fail to realize is many Americans endorse him because he has brought up issues they care about. And of course he’s not a career politician.

We will have to wait a few more months to see if Trump indeed does land the Republican nomination for President of the United States but regardless he has changed the game we play every four years in choosing nominees.  Of course he has advantages that many others do not, including plenty of his own money and the fact every movement he makes gets a lot of attention.

While much of what Trump says lacks substance he has clearly connected with people on issues like border control and the growing trade in-balance between the US and other countries which has cost America jobs and hampered growth.  The truth is that while Trump may be wealthy his appeal among Republicans is with many who feel like they don’t have a true voice in Washington and are willing to roll the dice. Only time will tell if they crap out.

During presidential election seasons you will come across a myriad of stories in which people of all ages, including kids are asked if they were President what they would do.  So in adding a little levity to the topic I take the following from this month’s Men’s Health as the magazine provided a list of what they would do as the Chief Executive.  Here are a few of them:

  • No more pennies. Come to think of it, no more coins at all.  Nobody keeps change except 4-year olds and grandparents.  From here on out, all prices will be rounded up or down.
  • Hold a referendum to decide once and for all if holding a door open for a women is sexist or gentlemanly.
  • You can have either a beard or a man bun but not both.
  • The Speedo is considered a global sex offense. Just common sense legislation.
  • While we don’t want to make a constitutional amendment that says you have to leave at least a 20% tip on a restaurant check some of you are not giving us much choice.
  • In our first term we’ll find a cure for cancer or finally end the 15-second lag time between Netflix episodes. One of the two, whichever one we figure out first.
