A Howell boy who died in a boating accident in Maryland on Wednesday is being remembered for his love of football and life.

"Kaden Frederick loved life, football, his parents, siblings and friends," his aunt Jeneen Ryans wrote on one of two Go Fund Me pages created to help with funeral expenses. "I wish I can take away my brother's Ulyssee and Kaden's mom Michelle's pain away."

Frederick was sitting on the edge of a pontoon boat in Sinepuxent Bay near Ocean City,  with his legs dangling over the side when he was hit by a propeller, according to the Natural Resources Police in Maryland.

Natural Resources Police Spokeswoman Candy Thomson said after Frederick fell, the operator couldn't stop and the propeller hit the boy. She added that it's illegal in Maryland to dangle in front of a moving boat.

Maryland TV station WRDE reported that a New Jersey state trooper jumped off a passing tour boat and tried to help resuscitate Frederick. A Pennsylvania state trooper, two nurses and one EMT also helped.

Thomson said Frederick is one of 12 people killed while boating this year in Maryland, and one of four this week.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
