How low can his numbers go? Governor Christie’s approval rating has dipped below 30% and calls continue for him to resign in the wake of his endorsement of and campaigning for Donald Trump which will likely keep him away from Trenton.

Christie, who spends more time out of New Jersey then he does in the state, appears to care little about what people think of him and it’s doubtful he would even consider leaving the governor’s office.

I remember fairly well Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards, the British ski jumper who gained brief fame during the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary with his last-place finish in both the 70 and 90 meter jumping events. Now the story (sort of) of the first Olympic ski jumper from Great Britain is being told in a feel-good movie which we saw yesterday.

Of course like many the film is based on real-life events and not totally accurate. Maybe the biggest stretch is the portrayal of his relationship with his coach played by Hugh Jackman.   That character did not even exist but the movie is still pretty good and you’ll likely be inspired like Toms River South baseball coach Ken Frank who said after seeing “Eddie the Eagle” he was ready for the start of his 39th season as Indians head coach when spring practice begins tomorrow. We just happened to see each other when leaving the theatre yesterday.

Former Irish boxing champion John Duddy will be paying a visit to the “Irish Centre” in Spring Lake this Saturday between 2-4pm. The 39-year old retired middleweight lost only twice in 31 pro fights and his visit to the Jersey Shore is being arranged by Trinity Financial Sports & Entertainment Management Company.

The first 100 people to show up at the “Irish Centre” during Duddy’s appearance will receive a free autographed photo. Of course St. Patrick’s Day parade season begins Sunday in Belmar and Saturday, March 12th is the Ocean County St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Seaside Heights.
