LUMBERTON — A helicopter crashed near South Jersey's Flying W Airport on Friday afternoon.

The FAA said the chopper crashed around 1:30 p.m. Both the NTSB and FAA will investigate and determine a cause.

Medford Police Chief Richard Meder said at a press conference that the helicopter crashed in a remote area that was difficult to reach. He said the chopper suffered significat damage but did not catch fire.

The pilot and a passenger on board the helicopter were hospitalized, according to State Police spokesman Sgt. Lawrence Peele. Video of the scene from CBS Philly shows a red tarp covering wreckage in a wooded area at the end of a runway.

An employee at the Medford airport said Friday night's Montgomery Gentry concert was cancneled but would not comment on the crash. Refunds will be offered at a later date, according to the employee.

The facility off Fostertown Road was built in the 1960s and includes a golf club, motel and beach club.
