She scored her very first Top Ten hit in 1961 with "Every Beat of My Heart," and later joined Motown Records for a string of hits. Her biggest hit came in the 70s with a #1 classic titled "Midnight Train to Georgia." Along with all of her gold records, Gladys is also a restauranteur with a chain of "Glady's Knight's Chicken and Waffles" locations in the south.
