Tommy James, born Thomas Gregory Jackson, turns 70 today. He's about to be inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame (May 7th). He and the Shondells collaborated for a long string of hits such as "Hanky Panky," "Crimson & Clover," "Crystal Blue Persuasion," "I Think We're Alone Now," "Mony Mony" and "Sweet Cherry Wine." However, in 1962, Tommy's first record was released as by Tom and the Tornadoes. It's extremely rare. It's a real treat - give it a listen below. The original label was "Northway Sound," but it was reissued recently on the "Norton Sound" label. Happy birthday, Tommy.
