The former treasurer of the Barnegat Education Association heads to trial for allegedly stealing money from the association. 42-year-old Wayne Wedderman Jr. of Forked River was indicted by an Ocean County Grand Jury on two counts of Theft and one count of Theft from teacher's union accounts for allegedly writing checks to himself from the association's account. Wedderman is also accused of obtaining a debit card to make numerous withdrawals.

According to Patch.com and investigation was launched with BOE association officials discovered that $23,000 was missing from two of its bank accounts.

Wedderman reportedly served as treasure for two years. He could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
