FoodBank of Monmouth And Ocean Counties. Executive Director Carlos Rodriguez said many of the families are walking through their doors now.

"Because they've been paying rent, maybe they've been paying their mortgage and trying to rebuild their homes at the same time and now with credit cards maxed, they have no where to turn to and they can not make ends meet and that means not being able to put food on the table," said Rodriguez.

He explained the $500-thousand dollars donated over a 2-year period by the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund, chaired by First Lady Mary Pat Christie, has been going toward the purchase food. He said they've been distributing food to 60 programs that have been feeding an additional 4,000 families that they've picked up as a result of Superstorm Sandy.

As the FoodBank approaches its busiest season, Rodriguez said they need donations of food, money and volunteers.

The FoodBank received a special visit at their Neptune warehouse facility Wednesday, on the second anniversary of Superstorm Sandy from First Lady Mary Pat Christie and 17 Christie Administration cabinet members. The crew helped sort food and stock a mobile pantry.
