A scallop boat crew member, suddenly struck with debilitating medical symptoms 50 miles off Atlantic City, is recovering after being flown to hospital care by the U.S. Coast Guard.

USCG did not identify the fisherman, but said he was aboard the 90-foot Frank & Maria and developed stroke-like symptoms early this morning, according to the Coast Guard.

Duty officers at Sector Delaware Bay dispatched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Atlantic City Station. Crew members hoisted the fisherman at about 8:40 AM and delivered him to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City.
