A Whiting Volunteer First Aid ambulance, with its lights and sirens activated, was struck while exiting the First Aid Squad building on County Route 530 near Lake Road Saturday morning.

Manchester Police said the incident occurred at around 11 a.m. when the ambulance, with three crew members, was hit by The Optimum Moving LLC truck out of Elmwood Park, NJ, being operated by 20-year-old David Pinuel of Fairlawn, NJ.

Police said neither the driver of the box truck nor his two passengers sustained injury.  However, the ambulance driver and front seat passenger were transported to Community Medical Center after complaining of pain. The rear seat crew member also complained of arm pain but refused medical attention.

The crash is under investigation by Patrolman Antoinio Ellis of the Manchester Traffic Safety Section.
