Originally known as The Talk of the Town, The Ed Sullivan Show ran on Sunday nights for almost 23 years from June 20, 1948 until June 6, 1971. It was live from New York and was the epitome of the long-forgotten "Variety Show." Among the program's most memorable moments were live appearances by the Beatles in 1964 and Elvis Presley in 1956.
