The trash can explosion in Seaside Park on Saturday morning has sent ripples throughout the area.  Most immediately affected was the Seaside Semper Five Marine Corps Charity 5K, an annual event that raises money for the MARSOC Foundation, which was cancelled.

Elsewhere, the annual Seafood Festival, scheduled for Saturday in Point Pleasant Beach was also cancelled amid security concerns.

Extra precaution was taken by towns following the explosion, making it very difficult to get in or out of Seaside Park and surrounding areas. Here was the scene on Saturday afternoon, just west of the Point Pleasant bridge, taken atop Grieco Beverages in Brielle:

This is a developing story.  The investigation into the explosion is still ongoing.
