He began as a session drummer behind the Ramsey Lewis Trio as well as hits by Betty Everett - MAURICE WHITE was born this day in 1941. His first group was called "The Salty Peppers" and they made several records, but his biggest successes were with the legendary EARTH, WIND & FIRE. Maurice also attempted a solo career in the 1980s, and had a moderately popular remake version of Ben E. King's "Stand by Me." That rendition can be heard by clicking below.
